Technical Sales Engineer

Govplace is a well-established and rapidly growing systems integrator. Govplace sells, implements, and supports mission critical data security, storage and server consolidation solutions to public sector agencies. Govplace clients include federal, state and local government as well as education and healthcare. This position is based in Reston, VA.
The Technical Sales Engineer will:

  • Provide technical support to the Inside Sales team by walking customers through configurations and design documentation. Be involved in the sales process from the very early stages and build unique solutions based on client needs. As the Inside Sales team grows and drives the capture of business in new directions, it is essential to provide the team with a technical SME to help identify customer needs and configure technical and operational solutions adapted to these needs and customer perceived risks.
    • Achieve technical certifications for all key manufacturer’s technologies
    • Establish process to review and approve all configurations by the sales team
    • Develop structure and format for management of solution opportunity pipeline
    • Evaluate and certify technical configurations
    • Ensure proper levels of vendor-provided PS on solutions
  • Build qualified pipeline of new opportunities based upon corporate capabilities
    • Develop contact list and call plan for all key engineering contacts for  key OEM partners
    • Complete meetings and define action plans with all core OEM partner engineering resources

The ideal candidate will possess an entrepreneurial spirit to be a key addition to the Federal Sales team. They will thrive in hands on role and building strong relationships with key partners. The successful candidate will enjoy being a mentor to the sales team by helping them understand key factors in the design and configuration of solutions - and walk hand in hand with them on customer calls and in customer meetings. Experience will include a broad technical competence across key technical areas including data center facilities, storage infrastructure, information management, security, DR, server configuration, virtualization, networking and client side infrastructure.  Solid experience in Visio and other system architecture design tools are also required.
